If we look back into the generation of 70s, 80s, 90s where music had its different impact with every situation/moment. The time we used to listen genres like Gazal, Raag, Classical, melodies. And legendary singer’s like Lata Mangeshkar, Muhammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Kumar Shanu, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Shankar Mahadevan, A R Rahman, and many more. Singers that made us understood the actual taste of music.
In 2000’s we had singers who created magic in love like KK, Mohit Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Richa Sharma, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Amit Trivedi, Himesh Reshammiya, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Adnan Sami, Harshdeep Kaur etc.
No doubt today is the generation of pop, rock, hard rock, party songs, Punjabi songs. Songs that we basically hear on wedding’s, parties or during celebration. But aren’t we actually losing our taste in music with songs of Neha Kakkar, Badshah, Aastha Gil, Tony kakkar?
This generation has been named as kakkar generation where songs has no meaning , no emotions . Can you tell me what does “Kudi tu chocolate hai, Kurta pajama, Goa wale beech mein, Nikle current, Lalalala , Car mein music baja, Dheeme Dheeme, coka cola tu, Naagin Jesi, Bijli ki taar means? And you know why are they releasing such songs? Because we audience are supporting them and helping them to get millions and millions views.
While songs of singer’s like Armaan Malik, Jubin Nautiyal, Sachet Tandan, Vishal Mishra, Amit Mishra, Akhil Sachdeva, Payel Dev, Asses Kaur gets ignored. Aren’t we really responsible for this situation.
If we want that our next generation also feel the vibes of 90’s 2000’s then we have to make it stop and be very selective about what kind of music we choose to listen.
