Bulks and bulks of information run down on newspapers, articles, web portals alerting us on how alarming a rate have we reached in relation to the environmental degradation, whose prime accuse rests upon humanity. Not only have these been a source of information, but they equally emphasize upon its preservation, and the subsequent changes that needs to be inculcated. But do we really bother ourselves with something as important as this? Don’t we rather make excuses to skip and devote our
attention to something trivial?
We are so obsessed with our personal needs that the needs of others become oblivious to us. Our ignorant behaviour to what is happening around the world distances us from our actual goal of concern. Topics on environmental protection and sustainability only find its relevance in textbooks as theories but are they really even put to use in practical life? As the saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of invention”, our necessity brings out the possibilities ahead, but mere ignorance can eliminate that only ray of hope which humanity is highly indulging in. This very issue is prolonging the environmental exploitation till date.
There’s definitely no lack in awareness spread since many are involved in building up organisations to grab the attention of the people to their true cause, but the realisation on the part of the people is dormant to that an extent that they miss out on the possibility to ponder over the severity
of the situation. People still continue to believe that the resources vested upon them are perpetual in nature and will continue to survive them up to eternity. They are unaware of how our environment is getting wasted away with each passing day, nearing its edge of destruction.
We are well aware of the catastrophes’ our humanity has been hit hard with, and that has resulted out of the fury of Mother Nature. Like humans, nature also has a good side to it as well as a negative side, evident through catastrophes. Disturbance in nature in any possible manner can ignite such risks any time. Developmental projects contribute more to the severity of the issue. Similarly, deforestation not only impacts the land, but it simultaneously crushes the lives of the people depended on it, including
the wild animals going astray. In a nutshell, everything is interconnected. Each connection impacts the other in a good or bad way.
Time has come where people need to delve into the depths of the threats haunting our humanity. Reading articles or magazines may not directly stir everyone, but deep introspection on the part of every individual can give them an insight to the actual grounds of the subject.
