The First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Section 44 (Injury), Section 108 (Abbettor), Section 153 ( Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153 A ( Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) under the IPC, 1860 against Kangana Ranaut for her tweet on Protest against Farmers Bill.
The Karnatak Police on Tuesday registered a case against a well known Bollywood actress (Queen) Kangana Ranaut for her tweet against farmers who were protesting against the farm laws passed by the Parliament.
The actress had tweeted on September 21 from her Twitter account @KanganaTeam: “People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about Farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation.”
The FIR was written in Kannada Language, which refers to the allegations against Kangana Ranaut’s tweet termed the farmers who were protesting the Farmer Bills passed by the Parliament as “Terrorists”. This Tweet has hurt the number of Farmer’s Sentiment.
Based on a complaint by a lawyer L Ramesh Naik, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court directed the inspector of Kyathasandra police station to take Cognizance of the offence committed by Kangana Ranaut who compared the protesting farmers with terrorists, under the relevant sections of Indian Panel Code (IPC) 1860. Petitioner Naik has said that this tweet had hurt him and that is why he filed a case against Kangana Ranaut.
The FIR further stated that the investigation into the issue has begun.
